The merger of two massive black holes led to the emergence of powerful gravitational waves, which threw "joint" black hole beyond the galaxy. This fantastic event, previously described only in theory, was noticed by a group of astronomers under the direction of Stephanie Komossa (Stefanie Komossa), doctor of astronomy of the Institute for extraterrestrial physics, max Plank (Max-Planck-Institut fur extraterrestrische Physik).
As the scientists explain, in the time of the merger of black holes in the center of the galaxy, there are gravitational waves very big power. They are mainly distributed in the same direction, which leads to the displacement of the emerged "new" the black hole in the opposite direction - a kind of reactive forces.
Because of this black hole can escape from "gravity grasp" the galaxy and start "free flight". This is what was detected in the galaxy, known as SDSSJ092712.65+294344.0.
Having collected the data of observations, astronomers have determined that the velocity of motion of the black hole huge - 2650 kilometers per second. The mass of an object exceeds solar 100 million times.
As said the researchers, along with a black hole continues and the accretion disk, consisting of gas, "wound" around it. In this part of the disc material continues to fall in the hole, intensively emitting electromagnetic radiation in the x-ray range.
According to experts, this discovery is an important confirmation of the existence of gravitational waves and proves that black holes can actually merge
