On Sunday, the 43-year-old Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner broke the world record in high-altitude parachute jumping. Austrian rose to a height of 39 kilometers to the stratosphere, where, and jumped.

Just Baumgartner was going to beat 4 of the record set by his predecessor, Joseph Kittinger, jumping to such heights in the 1960-ies. The Kittinger was headed by the flight of an Austrian.

In the end, Felix managed to break the record maximum height to which ever was a man stood up on the balloon, to jump from the same height and overcome in free fall speed of sound (and generally to develop the highest speed in the skydiving).

However, the fourth record - maximum time of free fall is Baumgartner did not succumb. Without a parachute, he stayed in the air for 4 minutes 19 seconds, while the record is 4 minutes and 36 seconds. But he jumped from the height, in two kilometers higher than initially expected.

Note that the original Baumgartner was going to jump on 9 September. But then the athlete has summed weather: the strong wind made it impossible to raise the balloon in the air.

Now records of the Austrian will be officially registered in the Guinness Book of records.
