Sweden is the place where a quarter of a million homes are heated by burning of wastes, has recently faced an unusual problem: in the country has resulted in the garbage.
Landfills are empty, and the volume of waste exhausted. Although this situation can only envy, now this Scandinavian country will have to import garbage from the neighboring countries, mainly from Norway. Yes, the situation is so dire that the authorities are forced to transport 800 000 tons of waste annually.
The Scandinavian country succeeded in recycling that only 4 percent of all waste in the country remains in landfills. According to the program of incinerators, which began in the 1940's, every year there are about 2 million tons of garbage is heated more than 800 000 houses and is provided with electricity 250 000 houses. However, such an amount of waste is not enough.
According to the agreement, Norway pays Sweden that took away their garbage and Sweden receives electricity and heat. At the same time the ash left over from the incineration process in which high levels of toxic substances, is returned to Norway, as the waste incineration is more expensive for the country than the export of waste.
Further in the country are planning to organize import garbage from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria or the Baltic States, as in these countries a lot of landfills.
