The mysterious phenomenon of the disappearance of the bees does not find an explanation, one thing is clear - this phenomenon has acquired a global character. To such conclusion came the authors of the report, dedicated to the mass destruction of these insects-pollinators, which was commissioned by the UN environment programme (UNEP).
After studying many factors that turned the planet into a world that is hostile to women workers-bees called mankind to think again and to cease to cut off the branch on which food security of billions of people around the world. The theme will continue Natalia Terekhova.
Mother nature has given us a unique mechanism for pollination of almost all fruit, berry, agricultural and wild flowering plants - the bee. Few people brave enough to contend themselves with this little workaholic. Scientists estimate that the average family in 30000 honey bees in one day visit 2 million flowers. Rather, attended. Recently, the army worker bees just dying, says Professor Peter Neumann of the Swiss center for the study of bees:
"The number of bee colonies in Europe declining over the past 20 years. The same trend is observed in the United States, where the number of bee families has been declining steadily since the middle of last century and to this day".
And it's not just a reduction in the number of bees. We are talking about the mass Exodus of worker bees from the hive. This phenomenon was first described by American beekeepers in 2006, and subsequently received the name "colony collapse disorder". This is when the worker bees - the backbone of the bee family or colony - one day leave my hive and ever don't go back. Scientists say that by destroying the family, bees die alone. Professor Neumann inclined to blame this man and his inept management of ecosystems:
"The main factors causing the decline of beekeeping in Europe and the USA, - social and economic. I would like to give an example. After the collapse of the Berlin wall and the collapse of the GDR, the number of bee colonies in Germany decreased by 75%".
Possessed by increasing yields farmers actively use chemicals. In Europe and the US, a surge of interest to pesticides and insecticides, we have 50-60-ies of the last century. It was at this time attentive beekeepers have noticed a change in the behaviour of insect pollinators. But, apparently, did not give it much importance, because the benefits of increasing agricultural productivity is greatly outweighed the so-called production costs. Today, developed countries have rejected some kinds of toxic chemicals, but there other risk factors that may threaten the families of bees, says Peter Neumann:
"On the one hand, it is the power and pesticides, and on the other pathogenic microorganisms, mites, fungi, viruses and bacteria. All this weakens the immunity of bees and leads to the collapse of bee colonies".
In recent years bees really have a lot of hurt. One of the deadly diseases that simply mows inhabitants of hives, called varroa. It takes a tiny insect, from which it is almost impossible to get rid of:
"This is an active parasite called tick varroa. It is dangerous because it sucks from bees all vital juices. This is the most common bee disease that causes beekeepers many troubles, so as to get rid of these mites is very difficult, and treatment and nursing weakened bee takes a lot of time and rarely leads to the desired results".
That's why farmers prefer not to spend time and money for nothing and continue business as usual, says Peter Neumann:
"Beekeepers are transported to the colony of bees at large distances. For example, in the USA the hive can transport from Florida to California for pollination of agricultural crops. Such a long trip is subjected to family bees tremendous stress."
Humanity should not expect that in the 21st century, technological progress will allow him to become independent from nature, the report of UNEP. How people treat the natural wealth, will largely determine their common future, says Peter Neumann:
"Alone, no country in the world is not able to cope with the problem of the disappearance of the bees, that's for sure. The answer to such a complex multidimensional challenge should become a global network that mobilizes international and national approaches and offer a common strategy to prevent extinction of bee colonies.
