NASA holds its first round of tests in the development of robots that are able to repair and refuel satellites in space.
Thousands of satellites are orbiting the Earth, but only a few of them currently operate. Most of them remained there when their service life has expired.
Robotic system Robotic Refuelling Mission (RRM) is designed to check satellites in space with the purpose of their refuelling and repair using controls from the Earth. NASA hopes that one day this technology will be used to improve the lifespan of many of our satellites that are in orbit.
The test will be held during 5 days aboard the International space station.
