For anybody not a secret, that the inhabitants of open water is quite difficult to hide due to the nature of their environment. But some species have adapted to the peculiarities of their place of residence, as they were able to use optical illusions for a particular purpose. Such conclusions were made by a group of scientists who experimentally investigated the activity of fluorescent shark.
One of the leading scientists in this field Julien Klaas explained that about 50 species of sharks can glow in the water. In their research Klaas decided to focus on one type: Barhatnaya shining shark. For this experiment, a group of scientists gathered females and males of this species in Bergen (Norway). Then they were transferred to the marine station, where they were placed in a special container in a special cold and darkened water containers, the terms of which are consistent with their habitat. In a few days was carried out measurements of the intensity of the glow.
After catch sharks reacted in such a way that the intensity of the glow was much enlarged and lasted about an hour. Thus, scientists have found that sharks are able to adapt their specific bodies glow to the conditions that arise in the external environment.
