The universe is often deceive our eyes, giving the false impression that celestial objects are at the same distance from Earth. A striking example of this phenomenon is a pictorial image of the galaxy NGC 5011B and NGC 5011C made space telescope "Hubble".
Located in the constellation of Centaurus, these galaxies puzzled astronomers for many years by the nature of its location.
The galaxy NGC 5011B (right in picture) is a spiral galaxy belongs to a cluster of galaxies Centauri, which lies at the distance of 156 million light years from Earth. Previously it was considered part of a distant cluster of galaxies and galaxy NGC 5011C (bluish color in the center of the image) is a kind of object, with the typical structure and spiral early type.
Astronomers could not understand, if two galaxies are about the same distance from the Earth, then they should affect each other. However, there is no visual indication of interaction between them.
To solve this mystery, astronomers studied the speed with which these galaxies were moving away from the milky Way and determined that NGC 5011C actually goes much slower than it seems neighbor and is a dwarf galaxy. It should be noted that it is more consistent in comparison with neighbor.
